Weigh-In (Mr Peanut): Week 20

June 14, 2008

So yeah… I’ve been more or less stuck at 208 for the past month. In fact, I haven’t posted a weigh in for a few weeks. It wasn’t because I was giving up or anything, but because I wasn’t happy with our progress on Diet To Go. I just didn’t feel motivated to pop on once a week and say, “nothing’s changed… maybe check back next week.” Well, something changed this week. As you know, we’re back on PFFS!

Weight: 206

Yep, down 2 more lbs. After a month of losing NOTHING on DTG, one week of PFFS seems to have me back on my regular weight loss pace. It’s a little frustrating to think that we lost a whole month of weight loss opportunity, but in reality, I think that it’s made us appreciate PFFS so much more. I know that I was getting frustrated by PFFS’s lack of selection (something that they have been working on lately) and packaging before the switch but now I have a renewed sense of gratitude toward them for helping us lose weight. I mean, that is what this is all about for us. Besides, the new selections that they’ve created sound delicious, and I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed eating all my old favorites this past week. Hooray for PFFS, I’m actually losing weight again!

Dinner: Turkey Picadillo with Brown Rice Pilaf, Asparagus Spears

June 4, 2008

This is Tuesday dinner, Week 3, Diet to Go:

I actually didn’t end up trying this one because of my travel schedule, but Mr. Peanut did. He said he liked it. The meat was semi-sweet in some way and was reminiscent of some other DTG dish we’ve had but he’s not sure which one. Overall it was filling and good.

Weigh-In (Mr Peanut): Week 16

May 17, 2008

Weight: 208

Much like Noodlebean, I’m a little frustrated by the lack of change in my weight. I didn’t post a weigh in last week, but I can tell you it was exactly the same as today… and the same as 2 weeks ago. To be fair, we did have some schedule craziness over the past 2 weeks, but I’m still concerned about DTG. We’re going to give it a chance, especially since the meals are so delicious, but if neither of us are losing weight over the next 2 weeks, I assume we’ll have to make some kind of change.

Old Fashioned Meatloaf, Sweet Potatoes, Whole Green Beans

May 7, 2008

This is a turkey meatloaf and it’s Tuesday’s dinner from Week 4 of Diet to Go.

This is my plate (from the 1200-calorie plan). As you can see, it’s a big hunk of turkey meatloaf, a small serving of steamed green beans, and then a scoop of pureed sweet potatoes that have orange and possibly also apple in them.

Here’s Mr. Peanut’s plate (from the 1600-calorie version). He had more green beans, but I think that might have been just a random fluke. They do include a whole-grain roll for him though.

I heated everything in the regular oven at 325 for about 20-25 minutes (except Mr. Peanut’s roll, which I put in the toaster oven. We both thought it was quite delicious! The texture of the meatloaf was a little… squishy or something. So the mouthfeel of that was off a bit for me, but the taste was still good (especially after we added SALT). The sweet potatoes were tasty though on the extra-sweet side (again helped by salt). Green beans were good, not overcooked, and best of all not SOUR tasting!

We were very satisfied after dinner and really enjoyed it. I’m feeling good right now about Diet to Go! Can’t wait to see how we do tomorrow!

Dinner: Chicken Florentine Lasagna

April 11, 2008

Even though 3-Hour Diet is now defunct, I’m going to continue blogging about these dishes in case they become available on other plans. This one is basically spinach lasagna — Mr. Peanut said he didn’t even notice the chicken in it. He also said that though this may not convey in the photo, it’s actually quite a large portion. There aren’t any sides or anything, but this piece of lasagna was quite enough to be filling for dinner. Flavor-wise he said it was just okay. Mr. Peanut is more of a meat lasagna kind of guy in general.

3-Hour Diet RIP

April 10, 2008

Oh lord. So a dude called the apartment earlier today for Mr. Peanut. He said that 3-Hour Diet is NOT going to be able to keep everybody on, so Mr. Peanut had the option to switch to PFFS (or else I guess get a refund or something — I don’t know because we did just switch him over). I told him I thought 3HD was going to allow a seamless transition for its customers into the new system and he was like “yeah, I thought that too, but…” So. I guess it’s fine because I do still like PFFS and everything, and hopefully they will add more options soon. Mr. Peanut is sad about the end of his muffin era, of course. The other issue with him for PFFS is that we’ll have to add more snacks for him (about 500 calories worth per day, as opposed to the 300 cals or so we had to add when he was on 3HD).

The change is effective with the NEXT delivery (Mr. Peanut got a 3HD delivery today for the next week’s food). So starting then, this is going to become a PFFS-only blog for a while, unless we decide to try something else!

I guess we could be feeling more frustrated than we are, but Mr. Peanut and I are kind of like whatever, obviously we have to accept craziness from these companies! At least the plans really do work. However, Mr. Peanut did say Jorge Cruise is now dead to him. :)

Tomorrow’s Menus

April 9, 2008

Here is Mr. Peanut’s 3-Hour Diet food for tomorrow:

Breakfast: Blueberry Muffin with Pear

Snack: Gelatin (I have to say, so far Mr. Peanut has gotten gelatin several times and he has never eaten it… we are not a fan of sugar-free snacks in general)

Lunch: Taco Salad

Snack: Oreo – 100 Cal. Pack

Dinner: Turkey Meatballs with Spaghetti Squash, Marinara Sauce, Roll and Margarine (slice of bread substituted by 3HD for roll this week)

Treat: Animal Crackers

And here is my Pure Foods Fresh Start food:

Breakfast: Cascadian Farm Organic Hearty Morning Cereal

Snack: Ranch Soy Nuts

Lunch: Vegetarian Curry with Chick Peas and Brown Rice

Dinner: Turkey Meatballs and Spaghetti Squash with Mixed Vegetables

Treat: Extra Dark Chocolate with Cranberries, Blueberries, and Almonds

I’m excited to be trying 2 new meals tomorrow! Look for photos and reviews tomorrow evening.

Also, I don’t know if everyone saw Joan’s comment about PFFS’s meal selections. She said she spoke with someone at PFFS and was told that there will be new menu items in the next couple of weeks. Hooray! I’m psyched!!

Dinner: White Chicken Verdure with Chick Peas

April 9, 2008

This was Mr. Peanut’s 3-Hour Diet dinner this evening. He said it’s okay — not his favorite ever, but it “did the job.” It looks nice: a piece of chicken, some tomato sauce, and a nice pile of chickpeas.

Dinner: Fiery Chicken Breast with Chicken Flavored Couscous and Normandy Blend Vegetables

April 8, 2008

I’ve decided that since Mr. Peanut doesn’t really have time to review all the dishes he’s eating on 3-Hour Diet, I’m going to just post photos for you guys and relay whatever I noticed or he told me about the things he’s tried when I can. So for this dish, it’s a seasoned chicken breast (NOT spicy, says Mr. Peanut), veggies, and couscous, and there’s a little cup of pineapple & sauce inside the container; you pour the pineapple over before eating. Mr. Peanut says this one is tasty and satisfying!

Weigh-In (Mr Peanut)

March 1, 2008

So this was the most chaotic week on the plan for me so far. Without the structure of meal delivery, I found it really challenging to stay on track. I did… but it was only because of my stubborn will power. I was starving for the first half of the week. Lean Cuisine meals just didn’t fill me up. I was so happy to get the delivery in the second half of the week. But once we got it, most of the food was picked from our least favorite list… so we didn’t follow a typical M-F plan (the way we normally would). Instead, we started to pick and choose which meals we wanted on each day. The lack of structure was not good for me. I can’t wait to get back to the good old days of just having food and not worrying about what it is. :) The good news is that I still lost weight.

Weight: 219

I made it in to the teens! Hopefully next weeks vacation doesn’t do too much damage!
